What you can build in Trowbridge depends almost entirely on which half of the town you are in. The estates built from the 1960s onwards — Studley Green, Hilperton Marsh, Paxcroft Mead — generally have the plot width and the permitted development rights to take a proper rear or wraparound extension without a full planning application, which is why space-adding work is worth doing there.
